It was back in 2009 when Ruth's Chris Steak House, a national chain of beef emporiums, shuttered its downtown Denver space at 1445 Market Street, an address that's now occupied by Chloe. At the time, the shrine to steak had defaulted on taxes owed to the City of Denver, which resulted in an auction, at which everything -- all the fixtures and furnishings -- were auctioned off to the highest bidder, the monies of which went to satisfy the steakhouse's grandiose debt. Now, more than four years later, the Florida-based chain is reopening in Denver, under new management and ownership, in the Denver Dry Goods building at 707 15th Street, less than a mile from its original location.

The behemoth, 10,000-square-foot space, which ballyhoos a lounge area, a modern, wood-paneled dining room, three event spaces, a gleaming new kitchen spearheaded by chef Jacob Cook, and an indoor valet parking garage, will be open seven nights a week and also feature a happy hour from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

"We're delighted to be rejoining the Denver community," says Michael O'Donnell, CEO of Ruth's Hospitality Group. "We look forward to reconnecting with long-time friends and new guests, all while carrying on the the legacy of our founder, Ruth Fertel, by serving supreme sizzling steaks and heartfelt hospitality," he adds.

If you've never been to a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, its claim to fame is in the sizzle: Its USDA Prime steaks are delivered on scalding-hot plates, hissing with butter. Arteries, be damned.
