The Late Winter Cocktail Menu features a mix of Steuben's original cocktails as well as some new drinks you won't find anywhere else. "My inspiration for cocktail creations is to take classic recipes/structures and tweek them a bit. There is no sense in messing with what's worked for a hundred years!" Layman says. The Immigrant, a new house favorite, is a mixture of Jameson, Fernet Branca, Averna Amaro and maraschino Liqueur. Layman came up with the concoction while guest-bartending at Linger with his twin brother, Randy, because he wanted to feature a cocktail with spirits that the industry drinks. "As far as naming the cocktails, I usually am inspired by song titles," Layman notes.
The new drink menu includes such Steuben's staples as The Zombie and The Sloe Starter, as well as crowd favorites like The Alexander No. 1. Layman also added a couple of new beers -- among them the Chainbreaker White IPA from Deschutes and Colette from Great Divide -- as well as an updated wine list.
