Hit the highway and head north for a couple of deals — and plan on sticking around Boulder, since the original Pizzeria Locale will be whisking guests away to Roma for the evening and Agora at the Riverside will be holding a tasty benefit for the Flatirons Food Film Festival.
But first, get to Loveland, where Dunkin' Donuts is opening a new location at 102 East 29th Street; to celebrate, the chain is throwing a grand-opening party today from 9 to 11 a.m. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony, fire-truck tours and a Dunkin’ Donuts-themed Plinko game to win free Dunkin’ Donuts beverages, food and more. Ten percent of sales on opening day will be donated to Jeff Huttinga, a local resident battling ALS. For more information, visit dunkindonuts.com.
Then it's back to Broomfield, where, In celebration of National Farmers Market Week, the Broomfield Farmers’ Market at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church will be handing out free $5 vouchers and buy-one-get-one free coupons to Chipotle Mexican Grill. The market runs from 4 to 7 p.m., but get there early to get your voucher; supplies are limited. Chipotle will also provide free chips and salsa samples.
There are two tasty entrees on the evening's menu:
Pizzeria Locale in Boulder has invited Katie Parla to help the restaurant showcase Roman-inspired street food alongside a specially curated flight of Italian craft beers. And who better to lead this Roman feast than Parla, whose resume includes a degree in art history from Yale, a masters in Italian gastronomic culture from Università degli Studi di Roma “Tor Vergata,” a sommelier certificate from the Federazione Italiana Sommelier Albergatori Ristoratori, and an archeological speleology certification from the city of Rome. The $25 Roman-inspired menu can be paired with an optional Italian craft-beer flight for $38 (the regular menu will be offered, too). For reservations, call the restaurant at 303-442-3003.
Films, Chefs and Glorious Song will pair opera, short films and local chefs for a fundraiser with a tasty goal: to bring chef Andy Ricker and filmmaker Helen De Michiel to Boulder for the third annual Flatirons Food Film Festival, which takes place October 21 through October 25. Today from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Agora at the Riverside, guests can enjoy short films by the award-winning Perennial Plate, and taste small plates inspired by the shorts. Chefs Alex Krill and Dave Query of Jax Fish House, Eric Skokan of Black Cat Farm-Table-Bistro, John Platt of Riffs Urban Fare, Kelly Whitaker of Basta and Kyle Mendenhall of The Kitchen will be in charge of whipping up the film-inspired fare. There will also be a performance by Opera on Tap and a live auction. Tickets are $55 in advance and $60 at the door; get yours here.
