Ten Tastiest Events on the Culinary Calendar, April 25-28

Before you check out the culinary calendar, make a reservation on Thursday so that you can support Project Angel Heart at Dining Out for Life. But there are definitely other worthy events around town, including a very special dinner at Lola on Wednesday. Keep reading for the tasty details.

Monday, April 25 

Take a bite out of Golden during Taste of Golden. From 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at the American Mountaineering Center, you can sample food and drink from over twenty Golden restaurants, breweries and distilleries. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, and $12.50 for children under twelve. Find all the details here.

Frasca Food and Wine welcomes guest Andy Lum, who will be pouring the wines of Unity Selections. The Monday Night dinners are $50 for a prix fixe four-course tasting menu, with optional wine pairings ranging from $40 to $50. For reservations, call the restaurant at 303-442-6966.   

Tuesday, April 26 

Pizzeria Locale Boulder continues the restaurant's Flour + Fire series with a class on the Italian region of Sardinia. Each session explores traditional southern Italian cooking “al forno," or oven-baked style, with a four-course family-style meal. Class begins at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $125; e-mail [email protected].

Wednesday, April 27 

Big Red F and Lola welcome guest chef Javier Plascencia, a Baja star brought to Denver by Big Red F founder Dave Query and founding Lola chef Jamey Fader, who visited him in Mexico last month, for a special collaboration dinner. The menu will feature five courses as well as passed appetizers and dessert. For reservations, $75, call Lola at 720-570-8686. 

Just around the corner, Linger will host David O'Reilly, of the Willamette Valley and Yakima Valley's Owen Roe, at a winemaker's dinner at 7:30 p.m. The winery will debut its first rosé alongside other limited production tastings, and pair Owen Roe wines with a four-course dinner. Firenze a Tavola is holding a Springtime Veggie Extravaganza community table at 6:30 p.m. The multi-course, family-style meal is $33 per person; call the restaurant at 303-561-0234. 
 
Thursday, April 28 

TAG encourages you to eat like a chef and drink like a somm tonight, at the restaurant's wine dinner featuring special guest Pax Mahle. The menu includes four courses and five PAX and Wind Gap wines, for $95; call TAG at 303-996-9985.  

Do good simply by eating well today, at Dining Out for Life. Participating restaurants around Denver and Boulder — and there are hundreds — will donate 25 percent of their food sales on April 28 to Project Angel Heart. The Brown Palace hosts the 2016 Whiskey Extravaganza from 7 to 9:30 p.m. today, with unlimited whiskey tastings as well as food, a premium cigar, Robb Report magazines and a souvenir tasting glass. Tickets are $165; find details here.    

Friday, April 29   

Cook Street School of Culinary Arts will get decadent during its Steak and Whiskey class, which covers cooking different cuts of steaks and creating the side dishes needed to make a complete meal. Students will get to sip on local whiskey during the class, which runs from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tuition is $99; register and learn more at cookstreet.com.
