Thai Bistro, 5924 South Kipling Street in Littleton, has been lauded with several Best of Denver awards for Best Thai Restaurant, and it measures up just as strongly when it comes to its vegetarian dishes. The tofu, in particular, stands out: If you like nothing better than perfectly fried, crispy-on-the-outside, creamy-on-the-inside tofu with mouth-watering sauces, then you'll love it.

Located in a strip mall that also contains a 24-Hour Fitness and a hardware store, Thai Bistro is surprisingly lush and quiet inside, with dark accents and cushy seats. And the menu has several vegetarian- and vegan-friendly dishes apart from the completely amazing peanut curry with broccoli, red bell pepper, snow peas and cubes of the aforementioned melt-in-your-mouth tofu. (You can also order it with meat if you're so inclined; most of Thai Bistro's menu is vegetarian-flexible.)

The vegetarian egg rolls, served with a sweet and savory sauce, are a good option for two or three people to split.

However, if you're not worried about tofu overload, we'd seriously consider the fried tofu, which was among the best we've ever tasted. And the sauce served with this appetizer is a chunky, sweet chile blend that's to die for.

A tofu specialty dish with mushrooms, peas and wine gravy was another fantastic option, especially paired with Thai Bistro's fluffy white rice to soak up the juices.

Thai Bistro is open for lunch and dinner; call 720-981-7600.
