Just after midnight on Thursday, July 2, The Hornet, 76 Broadway, posted the sign seen above on its windows and doors. But unlike Lucy, the upscale restaurant in Comedy Works South that's "closed for maintenance" -- and may or may not reopen by the end of the month -- The Hornet has a definitive reopening date of Friday, July 10, at which time the joint will have "all new kitchen equipment and bathrooms, a second patio on the north side of the building and new interior and exterior paint jobs in historic colors, like muted green, taupe and orange," says general contractor Greg  Sturtz.

Most important, the Hornet will buzz back with a completely revamped menu, and, like the sign says, an onslaught of drink specials to welcome the swarms back to the hive.
