The Kitchen [Next Door], the next eatery in the family of restaurants that started with The Kitchen seven years ago, had been slated to open its doors this Thursday.

But there's been a hitch -- and now it won't start serving until next week. "It's a combination of things," explains Francesca De Orio, a manager at the new spot. "We just needed a little more time."

Time to put some finishing touches to the construction, fix a problem with the taplines. Also, in an effort to reduce waste and recycling, The Kitchen [Next Door] was to be outfitted with a massive beer and wine keg system -- but that custom-made equipment, a special order from Europe, was delayed in transit. While that system should now be installed in the next 48 hours, according to De Orio, the restaurant itself still won't be quite ready until next week.

The new target? Next Tuesday, June 14, at 11 a.m.
