While Argyll served its last meal on Sunday, Toast, a breakfast emporium that originally started in Littleton (that location is still going gangbusters) and opened a second outpost less than two years ago in the former Cherry Creek Village Inn, beat Argyll to the punch, closing three weeks ago.
"While we we're doing great on the weekends, there just wasn't enough business in Cherry Creek to sustain us during the week, which was very slow for us" explains co-owner Bill Blake, who operates Toast with business partner Jason Parfenoff. "Between the street improvements, the addition of paid parking meters, and the traffic, it's just a mess down here, so we didn't get a lot of support during the week, and it got to the point where we couldn't recover," he laments.
Blake says that he'll focus on the Littleton store and look for a space to open another Toast sometime in the future. "We've been spending most of our time in Cherry Creek, so now that we're back in Littleton, we're going to focus on that for a while, and a few years down the line, we'll look for other options," he says.
