Typically, seafood is paired with white wines, not reds -- simply because the heavier wines can overpower the light, flaky meat. But if you're ready to move beyond a basic pinot noir with your salmon, then you'll want to attend tonight's Red Wine and Seafood Dinner at the Oxford Hotel ballroom, 1637 Wazee Street.

The fifteenth annual dinner kicks off at 5 p.m., with offerings from McCormick's Fish House & Bar, Southern Wine & Spirits and Gateaux Specialty Cakes and Pastries, as well as live jazz and a silent auction. In other words: all-you-can-consume seafood and wine. Admission is $75 (tickets are only available in advance), and the event benefits Volunteers of America; sign up at www.voacolorado.org/events/redwineandseafood/tabid/8433/default.aspx.
