The Denver Five, a platoon of five local chefs who cooked together earlier this year at the James Beard House in New York City, and then decided that they'd like to cook with one another -- yet again -- in each other's hometown restaurant kitchens, gathered at Lola two weeks ago for the first in a series of five dinners to cook, says Lola chef Jamey Fader, "for the cause of getting Denver's rich culinary prowess out there to people in Colorado and national onlookers alike."

The second dinner comes down tonight at 6 p.m. at D Bar Desserts, Keegan Gerhard's deliriously delicious confectionery at 1475 East 17th Avenue. He'll be joined by Troy Guard (TAG), Tyler Wiard (Elway's in Cherry Creek), Matt Selby (Vesta Dipping Grill and Steuben's) and Fader. The dinner, which includes four savory courses and three desserts -- the latter all courtesy of Gerhard -- is $65 per person, excluding tax and gratuity. To find out if there's still space left (unlikely, given the lineup), call 303-861-4710.
