Ed Fest , the craft beer and music festival created five years ago by the team at Crazy Mountain Brewery, returns to Edwards on August 16, when it will celebrate international craft-beer culture with over sixty craft breweries from around the world -- including Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project, Green Flash Brewing Company, Telluride Brewing Company and Great Divide Brewing Company. There will also be gourmet bites from local restaurants and food trucks, wares from Colorado purveyors, and live music by the nationally-renowned North Mississippi Allstars -- in the act's only Colorado tour date this summer.
And we're giving away a pair of VIP tickets to the event.
The VIP experience begins on Friday, August 15, with an exclusive specialty craft-beer and gourmet food party. Held in a private room at the Field House at WECMRD from 6 to 8 p.m., this event features unlimited specialty and rare beer styles from about ten different breweries. These beers will not be offered at Ed Fest the next day, so this is your only chance to taste some cool brews that are not normally on store shelves. Chef David Nowakowski will be preparing farm-to-table food from different global cuisines to accompany all of the beers. On Saturday, August 16, the VIP package includes admission to the festival, access to a private, misted and shaded tent with its own cash bar, restroom, side stage viewing area and a light buffet. The bar in the VIP tent will offer complimentary beers from 3 to 5 p.m. The VIP area also features a private outdoor side-stage viewing area for optimal viewing and dancing.Sound like fun? For your chance to win a pair of VIP tickets, just answer this question:
How many kegs of beer were consumed at Ed Fest 2013 during the grand tasting? Hint: this includes all beer poured by all participating breweries.
Post your answer in the comments section below no later than 11:59 p.m. Friday, August 1; we'll name the person who comes closest to the correct answer the winner on August 4. And we won't be announcing just the winner of the VIP tickets: We'll also give pairs of general admission tickets to the three runners-up.
GA tickets include access to the unlimited beer tastings from 3 to 6 p.m. on August 16. You also get access to the main stage for concerts from three Colorado-based opener bands and the headliner, North Mississippi Allstars. Also included are a commemorative beer-tasting cup, food specials from local food vendors, a kids zone, free water, and a cash bar with cocktails, beer and wine from 6 to 9 p.m.
Ed Fest runs from 3 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, at Fields at WECMRD, 450 Miller Ranch Road in Edwards. This is a 21+ event. Presale tickets are gone; general admission tickets are $39, VIP $79 in advance (plus handling charges), and general admission tickets on the day of the event are $49. Ed Fest benefits the Eagle Valley Land Trust, a nonprofit dedicated to conserving and protecting Eagle Valley's natural spaces. For more information, go to the Ed Fest website.
