Gustavo Arellano, author of Ask a Mexican and Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America, is coming to town on Thursday. While he's here, he's going to do some very hands-on research into a few Mexican dishes that actually got their start in Denver. The Mexican hamburger, for starters, and the eggroll-style chile relleno, and a recent subject of research: the fried taco.

The Mexican will be hosting a lunch at 1 p.m. on November 19 for a handful of faithful Westword Food & Drink readers. Want to win a seat at the table? There are two steps to enter. First, the easy one: Send an e-mail with the name of the place that serves the fried tacos pictured above (where the lunch will be held) to [email protected]. And then in the comments section for this story, list your three favorite tacos in town. We'll judge entries for accuracy and appetite-whetting ability!

If you miss lunch, though, you can still meet the Mexican Thursday night, November 19, at Su Teatro, 721 Santa Fe Drive, where he’ll offer a sneak peek of Bordertown, his collaboration with producer Seth McFarland, an animated series that will debut on Fox in January. Come at 6:30 p.m. to grab a beer, enjoy a Mexican Hamburger Extravaganza and ask the Mexican all of your burning preguntas; the show will screen at 7:30 p.m. Admission is a $3 donation for the Grupo VolArte after-school arts program.
