HER Bar, the drinking joint at 629 East Colfax Avenue that catered to a largely lesbian crowd, shuttered some time back, making way for Jorge Pesqueira and Steven Alix to move in and pick up the lease. The duo remodeled the space and opened their new joint, X Bar, a couple of weeks ago.

The casual restaurant and bar serves lunch, dinner and brunch on the weekends, featuring a menu of American fare that includes pizza, sandwiches and salads. The kitchen is currently open until 9 p.m., but it will soon add a late-night menu to go along with daily drink specials and nightly dance parties. A nightly happy hour runs from 3 to 8 p.m.

X Bar is GLBT-friendly, but the management insists that the spot is open to all.

"We're open to everyone," says Butch Bernitt, X Bar's general manager. "Colfax has a diverse crowd, and everyone is welcome here."
