Mexican restaurants that start with the letter Z haven't had much luck of late. Zocalo closed two location in 2014 (on South Broadway and in the Golden Triangle), and now the doors are locked at Zanitas Mexican & Margaritas. Zanitas moved to south Denver in 2013 in a prominent new shopping center at I-25 and Hampden Avenue alongside a Smashburger, a Live Basil Pizza and a few other fast casual joints after making a brief go of it -- only four months, in fact -- in Boulder. But now the home of "Nu Mex" is closed, with signs from the city plastered on the windows indicating a tax seizure and upcoming auction.

The auction, handled by Schur Success Auction and Appraisal, is scheduled for for February 2; the company's website lists "restaurant equipment and supplies being sold to satisfy a tax lien for the City of Denver" as the reason for the auction.
