  • 3OH!3 really crosses over...

Just came across this item in the Las Vegas Weekly and it struck us as kind of funny: In a calendar listing for 3OH!3's show in Sin City a few weekends ago, the alt-weekly referred to Boulder's most renown wisenheimers as a "thrash metal group." We've heard 3OH!3's music described as a lot of things, but "thash metal" is certainly not a designation we ever expected to see. Horns, bros. And speaking of tres amigos, although there's been no official word yet, word has it the act will be heading ou

Set your DVRs to stun. Word has it the 3OH!3 hooligans, who have reportedly sold out their recently announced second night at the Ogden Theatre in January, will be making Americans holla til they pass out tonight from temperature controlled confines of a Burbank soundstage when their Last Call with Carson Daly performance airs tonight at 12:35 a.m. Denver time. -- Dave Herrera Update: Clip is posted after the jump.

  • Rap-Up: The Pirate Signal compared to... will.i.am?

The Pirate Signal recently got off a national tour with 3OH!3 and most of the feedback the duo is getting from their live set include everything from "passionate" to "hyper". That's the great thing about Colorado hip-hop going on tour, seeing how other cities react to the music. But in a recent review of a San Diego show, the reviewer compared the group to the pop-ness of the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am. Yes, it is a strange comparison. The reviewer also called the riot-inducing track, "I Can't W

  • That's the sound of a man working on the Chain Gang

If you were planning on pounding beers with Kamtin Mohanger, the dance floor wrecking machine otherwise known as the one-half of the Chain Gang of 1974, at shows this summer, you better pack a bag. Kam's going to be on tour -- again. With 3OH!3. Hold on. Not like last year. This time around he'll actually be a member of 3OH!3. Sorta. Dude scored a primo gig. He'll be holding down the low-end as part of the hooligans' live band on the AP tour. Don't fret, though, kids. Chain Gang isn't dunzo. Jus

Ahem...it seems we got our, uh, wires crossed there. Evidently, Sean Foreman and Nate Motte didn't actually get the, er, key to the city. Our bad. But they did get to hand off the ball at a Nuggets game last week -- as previously reported -- which, as we all know, is practically, like, the same thing, right? Anyhow, here's a shot of the boy

Love 'em or hate 'em, you've got to admire those 3OH!3 cats. In just a few years, the act has gone from being a word-of-mouth, regional phenomenon to turning heads across the country with a breakout single, "Don't Trust Me," frenetic stage presence and an absolutely devoted and maniacal fan base. So exactly how much cachet do these hooligans have these days? Well, as you can see from the cover to your left, a lot. Not only has the dynamic duo been immortalized on two AP covers -- which is precis

Well, I'm a little late on this one, but had to let you know. Photo Finish Records, home of Colorado's own 3OH!3, declared March 3rd "3OH!3 Day" (Get it? 3/03?), and in honor of the occasion, launched a bunch of promos and fun stuff on their blog. There are package deals, including one for $3.03, and some contests, but the thing that filled me with glee was the 3OH!3 Soundboard.

  • Update: 3OH!3 taking the UK by storm

From the sounds of it, the 3OH!3 dudes are having the absolute time across the pond. The folks at MTV have tapped the guys to keep a tour diary of their current jaunt supporting Katy Perry. Evidently, the crowds are massive and enthusiastic, with "people slam dancing just like home," reports Nate Motte, and the press thus far has been pretty favorable. Looks like the act will have plenty of momentum as it pulls into South by Southwest next week. Update: Check out 3OH!3's two-page spread in NME a

  • 3OH!3 SXSW tour diary by Kam from Chain Gang of 1974

JensenFriday, March 20: I arrived in Austin on the evening of Wednesday, March 18th. I had played SXSW last year so I knew what to expect. But this time around, I am hired to play bass for 3OH!3 -- you know, that small band from Boulder? The band who still aren't super stars in the eyes of a Colorado critic but have a single in the Top 40!? [Editors note: WTF, Kam? Read Backbeat much there, broseph?] Let's just say that there are a lot of perks involved with this...haha.

Did you happen to catch 3OH!3's recent spring break performance on MTVU? Panama City, Florida, on the beach with babes in bikinis, wall-to-wall kids, losing their minds, Benny Blanco on the ones and twos -- trust us: the shit was b-a-n-a-n-a-s, as Ms. Stefani would say. Er, well, actually, if this were being broadcast on MTV, she'd probably say the stuff was b-a-n-a-n-a-s (or bonkers as the case may be.) What are we driving at here? Follow the jump and you'll see. Even though Kamtin Mohager is touring the country right now playing bass in 3OH!3's backing band, his group, the Chain Gang of 1974, which also features guitarist Luke Osbourne and drummer Brandon Anamier, hasn't been idle. Over the weekend, the act premiered its new video for the track "DANCEKISSLOVEMOVE." The clip, deftly animated by the lovely and talented Megan Hoare, fits the song perfectly, with its jittery stop-motion style. Feast your eyes after the jump.

Looks like 3OH!3's debut single, "Don't Trust Me," can now officially be considered a smash, having purportedly sold one million digital copies. Update: Last week's scuttlebutt turned out to be true. 3OH!3 indeed officially has the number one song on the radio in the country right now, and unsurprisingly, "Don't Trust Me" has reportedly gone double platinum.Yeah, and it don't stop, and it don't quit. It's been a few weeks since our last 3OH!3 post. (Forgive us, father, for we have sinned.) Fortunately, you'll be happy to know that the Boulder-based hooligans, slated to appear at this weekend's Mile High Music Festival, haven't budged from their ubiquitous perch. • 3OH!3 on America's Top 40 with Seacrest

When 3OH!3 formed, we'll bet that that they never imagined they'd a) have the number one song in the country, and b) that they'd be leaving Ryan Seacrest a voice mail that he would then play across this great land on his weekly Americas Top 40 show. But that's exactly where the dudes find themselves right now (although Mediabase lists them at number five this week) hot on the heels of their blistering set at the Mile High Music Festival. Props to 3OH!3. Adding to its global ubiquity, the Boulder-based act was nominated as Best New Artist at this year's MTV Video Music Awards. From the looks of it, the hooligans from the People's Republic have a viable shot of taking home honors, as the competition doesn't seem to be too stiff this year -- the duo's up against Asher Roth, Drake, Kid Cudi and Lady Gaga. Although, if anyone's going to take out the pair, smart money's on the lady of the bunch. Awards will be broadcast on MTV on S
