  • Colorado Crimes: The disadvantages of robbing someone you know

Brandon Gaitan. According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Brandon Gaitan and Keith Paris II, both 19, had what must have seemed like a good idea at the time: break into the apartment of someone on vacation and do whatever for as long as they wanted. Problem is, said vacationer returned home to find them still hanging out. Gaitan and Paris reportedly responded by drawing guns, taking some shit and splitting. Problem: the victim knew who they were. And now he knows where they are -- in cu

  • Colorado Crimes: Another scary sketch from Boulder PD

A Boulder Police Department sketch of a suspect in a "suspicious incident." The Boulder Police Department put out an unusual release a short time ago, involving an incident that may have been a crime -- or it might have been perfectly innocent. On Monday, a pre-teen girl was approached by a man outside a closed recreation center, who asked if she wanted a ride. She said "no" and walked away -- and that was the end of that, fortunately. But in case the man's intentions were criminal and predato

  • Mile High Murder, No. 36: Michael Curtis was victim in motel slaying on 9200 block of East Colfax

View Larger Map In recent days, we've learned plenty about the investigation into a slaying last week at a motel on the 9200 block of East Colfax, an area captured in the graphic above (if you have problems seeing the image, click "View Larger Map"). At first, Aurora Police Department reps said they were looking for Shayne Miller, 35, out of concern for his welfare. Shortly thereafter, Miller went from person of interest to arrested suspect; he and a second man, Jesse Dennis Dimmick, were buste
