  • Update: Westword Music Showcase line-up

Update: As with year's past, before the ink's even dry on the schedule, we've had to make made some minor more changes. Among the recent ones: We've moved the metal showcase from Andrew's to Broadways (two doors down from Bar Standard, next to the pawnshop), and moved the punk line-up to Bannock Street Garage. We've also added two additional acts  (the Culhanes and Buckner Funken Jazz), and swapped the time slots of a few others at Dazzle. And in case you missed it last week, Andrea Ball is

  • MP3 Freeloader: Tonight, Elin Palmer at the hi-dive

Photo by Gary IsaacsRounding out this week's batch of new music in MP3 Freeloader, is the lovely and talented Elin Palmer, who is premiering her brand new John Rumley directed video for the song "Balloons" tonight at the hi-dive. Figuring that you'll have ample opportunity to hear that song at the club tonight, we've opted to post another track from her forthcoming disc, which is being overseeing by Bob Ferbache at his Absinthe Studios. We're absolutely smitten with the track "Whaleboat Undrunk.

Houses, Elin Palmer, Ian Cooke Friday, May 1, 2009 Hi-Dive Better than: Going to bed at eight because you're mildly narcoleptic, which is what my date ended up doing (and man, she missed out) At the Hi-Dive on Friday night, someone mentioned that the lineup should have gone in reverse order. It was true. As it was, the order was Houses, Ian Cooke, and lastly Elin Palmer. And in terms of content, the night couldn't have been much better.

  • MP3 Freeloader: Sneak Peek - the Psuedo Dates' new album

Sweet Drawing by Noah Van Sciver (4 Questions)Ah, yeah! It's two-for-Tuesday! May is shaping up to be a pretty big month for new releases in the Mile High City. • Westword Music Showcase: We're here, are you?

Aaron Thackeray It's 2:27. Do you know where your favorite band is? Chances are they're here, in the Golden Triangle, blowing the doors back of the boozed up and sun-drenched crowds that are bouncing from venue to venue, bar to bar, soaking up a shit-ton of local music. Chain Gang of 1974 (pictured) kicked off the day on the main stage, at 12th and Acoma, and the party continues through Built to Spill later tonight. So get your ass down here. If you can't -- and seriously, you really should -
