The Gold Hill Inn launched its 48th season last weekend, its first without longtime owner Frank Finn. Finn, who passed away last September, had owned and operated the former gold mining settlement-turned-fine-dining-and-lodging-establishment since 1960 with his wife and family.

The inn at Gold Hill, ten miles up from Boulder, has been around about as long as Colorado has been a state. Poet Eugene Field stayed there, and described his visits in "Casey's Table d'Hote," the first poem in his 1889 book A Little Book of Western Verse.
