  • Frasca is moving...eventually

This past year, Frasca made plenty of buzz when the highly acclaimed restaurant that Jason Sheehan reviewed as Fantasy Land revealed that it would be moving from its home at 1738 Pearl Street in Boulder sometime in the future. But not, as it turns out, in the immediate future. Surprisingly, the number of seats in the usually jammed restaurant will remain about the same, but there will be many other changes. I talked with a source at Frasca who said these changes will be on multiple fronts.

  • Frasca finally opens for lunch -- for two days only

Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson at Frasca. For the first time, Frasca Food & Wine is opening for lunch -- but only on Friday and Saturday, May 8-9. Although the schedule change is to accommodate people in town for graduation ceremonies at the University of Colorado, you don't need to know a student to sign up for the $50 prix-fixe, four-course meal by chef/owner Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson. (Sommelier Bobby Stuckey will be on hand to pair wines and offer recommendations, too.) To reserve your spot, c

  • The List: Nothin' but meat

Smoked duck breast at Olivea. This past week I reviewed Sketch--a restaurant that serves almost nothing but meat.  And a little cheese.  And a few scattered, random plates of olives, cherries, bits of this, pieces of that. I liked the place for its simplicity, for the plain way that it offers some of the best stuff on earth.  I have long said that when the day comes that I am no longer doing this job and am free to eat the way I want to, whenever I want to, entire years will go by

  • Tonight: Frasca chef recreates Top Chef Masters menu

Robin MosesFrasca chef Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson and his daughter, LydiaLachlan Mackinnon Patterson, the exec chef at Frasca Food & Wine, the restaurant at 1738 Pearl Street that's the best in Boulder (and possibly Colorado), was rather unmercifully booted from Bravo TV's Top Chef Masters back in mid-July after he failed to seduce the judges with his deep-fried, speck-wrapped pineapple. It actually sounds like something I'd love, but since I wasn't a judge -- unlike Gael Green, who toss

  • Top ten Italian restaurants in Denver

Denver has many great Italian restaurants. As I wrote this week, Mark & Isabella's is not one of them. Here are ten of my favorites: Il Posto (2011 East 17th Avenue, 303-394-0100). Il Posto has an excellent location, crammed between other bars and restaurants, their patios shoulder to shoulder. The concept is also interesting: a purely and unapologetically Italian trattoria with chalkboard menus, changed daily and almost always brilliant, an open kitchen and a dining room alive with bodi

  • Tonight: Four-course food and wine dinner at Frasca

It's not too late to make a reservation for tonight's food and wine dinner at Frasca, the Boulder food shrine to all things brilliant. Tonight's dinner, hosted by Kevin Pike of Terry Theise Estate Selections, is all about grower champagnes, often referred to as "farmer fizz," according to Bobby Stuckey, the master sommelier of Frasca. "These are the ultimate expression of terroir-driven wines in the region of Champagne, France," says Stuckey. "They're wines that have been nurtured from t
