  • Q&A with Adele

British singer-songwriter Adele Adkins, who's in town for a sold-out show at the Bluebird Theater tonight, is having a moment. She's been nominated for four Grammy awards, including Song of the Year and Best New Artist, in conjunction with 19, an album named for her age upon the time of its release. But in the following Q&A, conducted for this week's Westword profile, she doesn't put on airs. Indeed, she's consistently funny, boisterous and down to earth enough to admit that she enjoys the tho

  • The Fray grabs top spot at Twist & Shout again

For the second week in the row, the Fray's new self-titled album grabbed the number one spot on Twist & Shout's top seller list. Elsewhere, it's not too surprising that Robert Plant & Alison Krauss's Raising Sand, which just won a Grammy for Album of the Year, claimed the second spot, followed by the Black Keys's Dan Auerbach, Lily Allen and Bruce Springsteen, who round out this week's top ten. See the full breakdown after the jump.

Jon Solomon Lily AllenThursday, April 9, 2009Ogden TheatreSome lyricists bury a song's meaning in metaphors or subtleties, which sometimes leaves a lot more room for interpretation. Lily Allen, on the other hand, shoots from the hip. She's blunt and she'll tell you what's what in plain English, whether it be about bad relationships, fame, drugs or God.

  • The polarizing picks of 3OH!3: Ten pop albums that should be listened to all the way through

JensenBlare Magazine. Familiar? Yeah, us neither. Regardless, the site (blog?) recently posted a list that struck us as fairly interesting: ten pop albums that Nate Motte thinks should be listened to all the way through. We stumbled onto the link via AbsolutePunk.net, where a number of folks expressed their displeasure with the band and scoffed at the legitimacy of Nate's picks. While you can argue that a few of the albums hardly qualify as "pop," beyond that, it's really not that big of a stret

  • NPR's All Songs Considered weighs in on the best music of 2009

Last time we checked, there's still a good four months left until the end of the year. Regardless, that hasn't stopped Bob Boilen and company from NPR's All Songs Considered from weighing in on the best music of 2009 (so far). Actually, check that -- the results, which were posted on the show's blog last week, were evidently voted on by the listeners, who apparently really, really dig Animal Collective. Take a look at their picks after the jump and see if you agree. Did they get it right, or
