  • This Thursday morning: Dom and Jane's Warm & Fuzzy Christmas show on Mix 100

Bells will be ringing, this sad sad sad news/Oh what a Christmas to have the blues/My baby's gone/I have no friends, to wish me greetings once again... Every year at this time, for as long as I can remember -- hell, probably since I first heard the tune when I toiled as "holiday help" at Musicland at the Northglenn Mall back in high school -- "Please Come Home for Christmas" gets embedded in my head and I can't shake it. It's permanently become associated with jolly old Saint Fatty and his holid

  • Whatever happened to Desperate Angel?

There's a great dialogue happening right now on the Denver Music Board about the local bands that mattered the most to everyone individually. While there's a ton of groups on that list that had a big impact on me, there's one in particular that I remember fondly as being my gateway into the scene.

  • Bingo Barn in Northglenn goes into foreclosure

Well, I don't know where the youth soccer teams in Northglenn are going to go to inhale second-hand smoke now that the Bingo Barn has gone into foreclosure. Documents filed with Adams County a few weeks ago show that the company that ran the operation is in the hole to North Valley Bank for $673,223.49. Ever since taking over the 17,000 square-foot space from Safeway in the Garland Mall at 107th and Washington, the Bingo Barn has been a centerpiece of old Northglenn, with hundreds of fold-ou

  • The hangover Saturday brunch following a fuzzy Friday night

In apparent anticipation of The Hangover, a new movie going straight to DVD coming to a theater near you on June 5, the Northglenn-based Allied Advertising and Public Relations Group is trying to convince us that after lubricating ourselves with booze tonight, we're going to wake up tomorrow morning (presumably hungover) craving brunch and movie schwag. I'm down with the hangover brunch, and so are Dixons Downtown Grill, at 1610 16th  Street, and Steuben's, 523 East 17th Avenue, both of whi

  • At least three metro-area Chrysler dealerships to close according to bankruptcy filing

In a bankruptcy filing today, Chrysler reveals that it plans to close 789 of its 3,200 dealerships in the United States -- and a source with access to the documents finds at least three in the immediate Denver metro area on the list. They are: • Burt Dodge Chrysler Jeep, 9900 Twenty Mile Road, in Parker. • Medved Chrysler Jeep Dodge, 11201 West I-70 Frontage Road North, in Wheat Ridge. • Northglenn Dodge, 759 W. 104th Avenue, in Northglenn. • Newest Smashburger one burger short of a Colorado dozen

On Saturday, June 27, Northglenn residents will come to understand why the rest of us, including Jason Sheehan, are truly, madly, deeply in lust with Smashburger, the homegrown hamburger chain that's multiplying faster than a calculator -- here and throughout the United States. And when Colorado's eleventh Smashburger opens at 832 East 120th Street over the weekend, I'll probably be there before dawn, licking my chops in anticipation of wrapping my jaws around four, maybe five stacked inches

At this point no other information is available, but you can read the Northglenn Police Department's statement after the jum

There, they found an injured man who subsequently died at Denver Health. Since then, two men -- Elrick Wayne Gilman, 30, and Nicholas Adam Smiley, 24 -- have been arrested in connection with the slaying.

  • Jared Polis shares videos of over twenty local healthcare stories

No denying that Internet multi-millionaire turned Congressman Jared Polis is a believer in new technology. During the past day or so, his office has posted videos on YouTube in which he can be seen talking on the floor of the U.S. House about the personal healthcare stories of real Coloradans. A shitload of real Coloradans. There's Alex, whose tale is told above. There's Arelene. There's Larry. There's Laura. There's a Northglenn resident known as "Northglenn Resident." • How do you know when a burglar's ballsy (or stupid) (or both)? When he steals a cop's Glock...

"Sorry, officer. I didn't realize it was your Glock..."There are pros and cons to burglarizing a police officer, as someone did in Northglenn on Friday; a loaded Glock 26 handgun and a friend's 2005 PT Cruiser were among the items swiped. On the positive side, you gain legendary status among your fellow felons: "Robbed a cop? Stole his gun? You're a BAMF!" But there are negatives, too -- like, for instance, there's no chance this case will get lost in the shuffle and quickly forgotten. Th
