This Friday night in Philadelphia, DeVotchKa is kicking off a fairly exhaustive eight week tour that will take the band across the country from New York to San Francisco to Austin -- not during South By Southwest, surprisingly -- back up through the midwest before culminating in Cleveland on Saturday, March 22. • Reno Divorce at the Ogden Theatre

I was shuttling between the hi-dive and the Larimer Lounge on Friday night, so unfortunately, I didn't catch Reno Divorce and Slim Cessna heating things up for Reverend Horton Heat at the Ogden. But from the sounds of it -- Jon Solomon was at the show -- both acts tore it up, and although it took the Rev and company a couple of songs to get their legs, they were dependably on point as well. Check out a few songs from Reno's set after the jump.

  • Developer Craig Nassi gets $1 million parking ticket

Craig Nassi. This week, the Denver Post reports, a Denver District Court judge ruled that developer Craig Nassi is "personally liable for $1,046,250 in damages for fraudulent misrepresentation as he negotiated how many parking spaces would be available for Club Matrix, a high-end fitness gym and spa in the Beauvallon building at East Ninth Avenue and Lincoln Street." The decision, which Nassi promises to appeal, probably didn't come as much of a surprise to readers of former Westword staffer Li

If you caught the show last night, we played it straight again, just like the old days, you know, just two turntables (well, CD decks) and a microphone(s). No dogs, no slogans, just great beer. We also featured a gaggle of new local music from Boulder Acoustic Society, Paper Bird, Joshua Novak, Pictureplane, the Legendary Beep Beeps, the Food Chain and the Fresh Breath Committee, along with some cuts we haven't played in a while. We also started tweeting our playlist last night for the benefit o

  • Is Denver Funville or Snoozetown? The government wants to know

The Church looks like fun to us. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. But what happens in Denver? It's too boring to tell stories about anyway. That's the impression that a Wednesday story in the Wall Street Journal may have left on readers. Headlined "Government Meeting? Stay Away From Fun City," the article was about how several large federal agencies, like the U.S. Departments of Justice and Agriculture, are avoiding cities with party reputations when they book conventions and meeting
