  • The ten worst fast-food ad campaigns

Quiznos' rats aren't nearly as creepy as the old guy from the Today Show as Ronald McDonald. Some fast-food ad campaigns work because they're funny -- like the Taco Bell Chihuahua ads from the early '90s, or the more current examples from Jack-in-the-Box, which invite us to send our respects to the fallen Jack (he was hit by a bus on Super Bowl Sunday). Other ads work because they're creepy as hell (seriously, I'll buy a breakfast sandwich -- just don't make me wake up to the King). digg_url

  • Columnist chronicles Denver's New Urbanism conference on the Huffington Post

Photo by Jonathan ShikesThe new-urbanist enclave of Highlands' Garden Village. Last week, the Congress for the New Urbanism held its annual conference in Denver -- an event we commemorated with examinations of Bradburn Village, Highlands' Garden Village and several other New Urbanist developments in the city; find them in our Not-So-New Urbanism archive. As for the conference itself, the issues debated there are currently being chronicled on the Huffington Post by Frank Gruber, a columnist for

  • Michael Jackson memorial coverage

Clearly, Michael Jackson's memorial, which is being held in a few hours in Los Angeles at the Staples Center, is the biggest music news story of the day -- and perhaps the year. Amongst all the wall-to-wall coverage (KCRW, the public radio station out of Santa Monica, is slated to simulcast the event live for those locked in cubeland without television access), Randall Roberts and his ace crew at the LA Weekly, our sister paper in Los Angeles, are attending the event and will be devoting extensi

But there are also plenty of references spurred by the arrest of Afghanistan-born DIA-shuttle driver turned terror suspect Najibullah Zazi. "Just two weeks ago, the coordinated efforts of the Justice Depar

And your winner? Denver's own Renee Herlocker, a former Broncos cheerleader (from 2000 to 2006) and Mile High Sports personality whose willingness to bend over pool ta
