    Just heard that Swallow Hill Music Association is sponsoring a contest for middle and high school age songwriters. They're soliciting recordings of original works on tape, CD or DVD of acoustic and electric acts from one to four members. Winners will play their songs at a special concert at Swallow Hill in March, and there is some mention of other prizes as well. If you're a teen reading this (or more likely, know one) that's creating music in Denver, this could be a good chance to get some exp

  • Rickie Lee Jones co-headlines RootsFest tomorrow

    Rickie Lee Jones was just tapped to co-headline Swallow Hill's RootsFest with Hot Rize and Leo Kottke tomorrow night at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Shawn Colvin, who was originally scheduled to perform, had to back out due to an unforeseen family emergency. Other acts at the fest include Tallest Man on Earth, Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, Joe Pug and Boulder Acoustic Society. The show starts at 6 p.m sharp and tickets are $55-$125.
