A Beery Weekend: A Second Helping of Westword Food & Drink, February 9-13
Beer and fried chicken for the win.
It's a beery week for Denver and Boulder as two new breweries, Ratio Beer Works in RiNo and Declaration Brewing just off South Broadway, open on Saturday, while Avery Brewing in Boulder moves to a spacious Gunbarrel campus with a new restaurant, bigger taproom and plenty of indoor and outdoor space for all things sudsy. And speaking of suds, the beer is only one of the draws at the Post Brewing Co., which Gretchen Kurtz reviews this week. She found plenty to love in the chicken, both Southern fried and spit-roasted, and house-baked pies — of the whoopie and cherry variety.
We offered several round-ups of Valentine's Day events, and to help diners get a jump on Chinese New Year (which falls on February 19 this year), Mark Antonation visited China Taipei in Centennial, where the pork belly and pickled greens would fit in well on any Southern menu. In other news:
