A jam-packed Saturday at the Source, including a tap takeover and Western Daughters popup
Kate Kavanaugh and her fiance, Josh Curtiss, are hosting a Western Daughters popup on Saturday at the Source.
Tomorrow is chock-full of extracurricular culinary diversions, including a swell of Kentucky Derby parties, one of which -- the Bar Car soiree -- even includes a pizza-eating contest, but Saturday's biggest stage for eating and drinking is at the Source, where you'll find popups aplenty, not to mention a tap takeover.
On Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m., Kate Kavanaugh and her fiance, Josh Curtiss, both of whom own Western Daughters Butcher Shoppe in Highland -- and plan to open a second outpost at the Source in early June -- will host its first popup in anticipation of that unveiling. "We'll be doing a pretty full offering on Saturday, including breaking down half a hog and selling the cuts," says Kavanaugh. "We'll also have a mint julep sausage to honor the Kentucky Derby, as well as our bacon, to-go containers of our housemade barbecued pulled pork and smoked pork chops for sale," she adds.
And that's not all: From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., New Belgium Brewery is holding a tap takeover in the common area at the Source, and while the taps will flow with "unique beers and experimental brews," Kavanaugh and Curtiss will satiate the hungry with a New Belgium beer brat to coincide with the pop-up.
In addition, the Source will host the Colorado Makers Spring Market, another popup that trumpets products -- some of them edible -- handcrafted by local artisans. Ritual Chocolate, Bakin Bakery, Jarrod Reno, Native + Nomad, Elke, Topo Designs, R.L. Linden, Rowena's Daughter and Young in the Mountains are all slated to showcase their products from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
And in the event that you don't want to miss the Kentucky Derby, the Source is showing it live on a gigantic screen. Don't forget your hat.
