The Daily Meal released its annual list of the 50 Best Craft Breweries in America -- as voted on by readers -- last week, and it included seven in Colorado. They are: New Belgium Brewing (ranked 7), Oskar Blues (ranked 9), Avery (ranked 12), Epic (ranked 16), Great Divide (ranked 18), Odell (ranked 27) and Crooked Stave (ranked 32).

Wednesday, August 6 Copper Kettle Brewing will tap a series of firkins based on childhood cereals on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. this month. The first is Honey Nut Cheerios, an English pale ale with honey and brown sugar. Ckrepes will be serving its Asian/Hawaiian-style cuisine at 3 p.m. The brewery is now tapping two firkins of each beer.
River North Brewing will feature a single keg of Cherry Avarice today at 3 p.m. as part of its weekly Wayward Wednesday series.
Thursday, August 7
At 6:30 p.m. today the West End Tavern in Boulder will host a tap takeover by Crystal Springs Brewing in Erie featuring South Ridge Amber, Crystal Kriek and Don Blonde, along with several others. Brewery owner Tom Horst will be on hand to chat.
Diebolt Brewing will be showing all the Broncos games this season, starting with the pre-season opener at 7 p.m. today against the Seattle Seahaks. Pints of Sunnyside Wheat are $3 from 4 p.m. to close. El Carte 303 will be grilling soft tacos and bacon brats out front.
Friday, August 8
Diebolt Brewing will release a new beer, Biere de Triumph, today at 4 p.m. The beer, a lager that took several months to make, joins the other nine brews already on tap in Diebolt's Sunnyside tasting room. The CKrepes food truck will be on hand as well.
Copper Kettle Brewing will tap Sombremesas, the fourth in its series of barrel-aged bottled beers, at noon today. This one is a little different, however: Weighing in at just 4.8 percent ABV, the beer is a pale ale that was aged in tequila barrels with fresh lime zest and agave nectar. Crazy Good Food will be serving food starting at 4 p.m.
Argonaut Liquors will host a tasting event and pre-sale of Denver Beer Co's two new canned beers, Graham Cracker Porter and Incredible Pedal IPA, today from 3 to 6 p.m. This is the first time the brewery has canned its beer and this is the first place to get it. The beers will appear on other liquor store shelves the week of August 11.
Saturday, August 9
Denver Beer Co will hold its third anniversary party at its Platte Street taproom from 2 to 10 p.m. today, closing off 17th Street next to the brewery for food trucks. There will be live music and the brewery will be releasing its first two canned beers, Graham Cracker Porter and Incredible Pedal IPA. River North Brewery will release River North Tripel, a 9.2 percent ABV Belgian-style Golden Strong Ale, today at 1 p.m. in the taproom. "Rich with notes of apricot, pear and lemon, River North Tripel is perfect for late-August temperatures. Finishing dry on the tongue, this brew is light in body but still delivers the depth of flavor River North is known for," the brewery says. The beer will be available on draft and in 22-ounce bottles to go ($9 each). Bottles will also show up on liquor-store shelves.
The second annual Fermentation Festival & Market will take place from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. today and tomorrow at the Highlands Masonic Center, showcasing everything fermented: from pickles and sauerkraut to kombucha, kimchi and plenty of beer, wine and spirits. The event features unlimited tastings, along with fermentation classes on subjects like sake and lacto-fermented veggies. There will also be a pickle toss, in which people fling pickles into their teammates' waiting mouths from a variety of distances. General admission tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door; VIP tickets are $60 and $65. Get more information at fermentationfestival.com.
Freshcraft will tap Lilikoi Kepolo (a Belgian wit with passion fruit) and Summer's Day IPA (an unfiltered IPA dry-hopped and spiced with tangerine) today at 1 p.m. as part of its weekly Rare Beer Saturdays program.
12 Degree Brewing in Louisville will tap the brand new Duplicity, a Brett-fermented golden strong ale, today at 5 p.m. The brewery says the beer has "a tantalizing aroma of pineapple, mild funk, and a tart, clean finish." Also back on tap is Cherry Fog, a quadrupel ale aged on tart cherries. The brewery plans to tap a second Brett beer this week, too: a version of its Pommy Dervish that was aged with the yeast strain in Cabernet barrels.
The Rialto Cafe will hold its second annual Brewer's Alley today from 4 to 8 p.m., featuring beers from eight breweries paired with dishes by Rialto chef Matt Mine. Located in the alley between Curtis and Champa streets, the event costs $25.
Casey Brewing and Blending in Glenwood Springs will open the door to its barrel cellar from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. Located at 3421 Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs, the brewery was founded by former AC Golden sour and wild ale expert Troy Casey; it focuses exclusively on Belgian-style beers fermented in vintage oak barrels using all Colorado ingredients. To go along with the opening, Casey will be tapping its second saison blend. The beer was aged three months in barrels using a blend of yeasts.

Arvada Beer Company is debuting a new series of chile beers, each of which will be tapped on a Tuesday through the rest of the summer. Today's beer is Anaheim Altbier, which will be followed by Jalapeno IPA on August 19 and Chili Golden Ale (Anaheim and poblano) on August 26. Other planned beers are Serrano Red and Chipotle Altbier.

Black Shirt Brewing will release its once-a-year Red Evelyn Imperial Rye IPA today, a beer that owners Branden and Chad brew to honor their late grandmother. The party runs from 2 to 10 p.m. and includes live music and food. Red Evelyn will be available in 22-ounce bombers for $9.99 each beginning at 4 p.m., with a limit of three per person. It will also be on tap.
Crazy Mountain Brewery will host its fourth annual Ed Fest today from 3 to 10 p.m. at the Freedom Park soccer fields in Edwards. There will be more than forty craft breweries on hand, from Colorado and also out of state (find the full list at edfestbeer.com). There will also be gourmet bites from local restaurants and food trucks, wares from Colorado purveyors, and live music by the North Mississippi Allstars. Tickets are $39 in advance, while VIP tix are $79. Proceeds benefit the Eagle Valley Land Trust, a local nonprofit.
Verboten Brewing will celebrate the once-a-year release of barrel-aged Mountain Man today in its Loveland taproom with a breakfast starting at 10:30 a.m. The breakfast is $20 per person and includes an all-you-can-eat buffet along with a ten-ounce pour of Mountain Man and the first opportunity to buy a bottle (limit one per person.) Verboten will open to everyone else at noon and hold a best-dressed mountain man contest at 3 p.m. Mountain Man is an 11.8 percent ABV dark rye ale aged in bourbon barrels.

The inaugural Boulder Craft Beer Festival takes place today in West Central Park, where twenty Boulder County breweries will be pouring their beers. The festival, produced by Downtown Boulder, Inc., runs from noon to 5 p.m. and includes live music, food and lawn games. Participants include 12 Degree Brewing, Fate Brewing, Oskar Blues, Upslope, Avery, Gravity, The Post Brewing, Vindication, Bootstrap, J. Wells Brewery, Sanitas, Walnut Brewery, Boulder Beer, Left Hand, Shine Brewing, West Flanders, BRU, Odd 13, Twisted Pine and Wild Woods Brewery. Attendees will enjoy unlimited two-ounce pours.
