Breakfast! It's what's for dinner! That's the siren song of this year's Breakfast for Boobs, a benefit to battle breast cancer. The fundraiser, which takes place on Sunday, April 18 from to 5 to 8 p.m. at Hot Cakes Diner, 1400 E. 18th Ave., is hosted by the Denver chapter of Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails (LUPEC), a spirited group of women who raise funds throughout the year to support local and national organizations that focus on the health and welfare of women and children in Denver.
Since 2004, Hot Cakes, usually open for just breakfast and lunch, has opened its doors one night each year to lend their aprons to LUPEC members and supporters who wait and bus tables."We have entire families who look forward all year to sitting down to breakfast with us," says Allison Gleichman, committee chair for the event. "We think Breakfast for Boobs is the perfect way to keep breast cancer awareness and fundraising top of mind." With the exception of the kitchen crew - it's all professionals working the griddle - the wait staff is entirely volunteer.
