Consider it the little market that could. The Broomfield Farmers' Market has been voted Colorado's favorite farmers' market in a nationwide poll conducted by the American Farmland Trust. The market is run by volunteers and is only in its second year, but then, it might have gotten a boost from up above in the voting: After all, It's held at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church.

And the market might also have gotten some inadvertent help from American Farmland, which mistakenly put Broomfield in the "small market" category, for markets with fewer than fifteen vendors, when it actually has forty vendors each week, as well as entertainment and two booths reserved for non-profit organizations.

But Broomfield is grateful for the win, however it happened.

"This is an incredible show of support for our market in only our second year of operation," says the Reverend Kim Seidman, vicar of Holy Comforter. "I think people appreciate that we are connecting area residents with healthy food and local farmers, and that we donate all of our proceeds to the greater community."

"We still have a few weeks of great food and friendly people," Seidman says. "We hope everyone will come out and find out why we were voted Colorado's favorite."

The market, which is located at Highway 287 and West 10th Avenue, in the heart of Broomfield, is open every Tuesday through September from 4 to 7 p.m. -- which means you have less than five hours to make today's shopping list.

The other Colorado markets that placed in the top five: Crested Butte, Woodland Park, Boulder and Westcliffe. Find out more information on the American Farmland Trust poll here.
