Free doughnuts and more on the culinary calendar this weekend
It's the first weekend of June, and that means National Donut Day! It also means that Robert Thompson will finally roll out his latest restaurant, Argyll Whisky Beer. Keep reading to find out where you can find free doughnuts today, preview Argyll and enjoy other goodies on the culinary calendar.
Friday, June 6
LaMar's Donuts and the Salvation Army are teaming up to take a bite out of child hunger on National Donut Day, when LaMar's will be giving out free donuts and asking for donations for the Salvation Army. Learn more about National Donut Day here.
Dunkin' Donuts is also celebrating by offering a free doughnut (while supplies last) with the purchase of any beverage today. Participating Denver metro area Dunkin' Donuts are located at 366 Broadway; 2001 Sheridan Boulevard in Edgewater; 8775 Washington Street in Thornton; 3235 28th Street in Boulder; 16611 Smoky Hill Road in Aurora and 7615 West 88th Avenue in Westminster.
As part of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science Summer Nights at the Museum series, you can watch the Colorado Rockies take on the Los Angeles Dodgers on the museum's seventeen-foot wide screen while enjoying gourmet ballpark fare including loaded tots, lamb corn dogs, ballpark pretzels, housemade caramel corn, fresh-spun cotton candy and a nacho bar. Saturday, June 7
Colorado Wine Week culminateswith the fourth annual Colorado Urban Winefest, at Infinity Park in Glendale. This tasting will feature more than three dozen wineries, hundreds of wines to sample, a celebrity chef demonstration, live entertainment and food from several Denver area restaurants. Tickets are $40 for general admission, $120 for VIP, or $20 for designated drivers. Purchase your tickets here.
Argyll Whiskey Beer, Robert Thompson's new restaurant at 1035 East 17th Avenue, will open to the public Monday -- but it's celebrating tonight with a special fundraising party for the Tennyson Center for Children. Sunday June 8
Today is the last day to grab a Negroni and help individuals with autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities at Oak at Fourteenth and Acorn. When you by a negroni at either of these restaurants, $2 will go towards the Joshua School.
