"Generous Servings is all about generosity, so to celebrate our first anniversary, we wanted to find a way to give something to the needy while including our local community and having a really fun event," says owner Mary Brinig. "We partner with the Carpenter's Kitchen food bank to donate our extra food from the cafe and cooking classes, so we decided that we would invite people to join us in a cook-a-thon party to make as much food as possible to donate to them."
Working from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, a crew of Generous Servings volunteers plan to prepare about 1,000 servings of chili and lasagna for the food
bank; Generous Servings will also donate 50 percent of the café's proceeds for the day.
Generous Servings provides "fun, hands-on cooking classes for both teenagers and adults, and private cooking parties," Brining explains. "We have a cafe in which we serve coffee brewed fresh to order and a great menu of pastries, breakfast foods, soups and salads, which are all made in our kitchen."
This sounds like a great concept for a very good cause; I know I'll be there Sunday. Generous Servings is located at 3801 West 32nd Avenue.
