Photos: Tamales Moreno

Tamales Moreno is housed in a dilapidated yellow building on the corner of Sheridan and Mississippi on a piece of real estate directly across the street from a cleaner -- and busier -- Tamale Kitchen. But as I discovered when visiting the place for this week's review, skipping Tamales Moreno would be a mistake. The place offers some of the tastiest tamales I've had in town.

Here's a sample of what I encountered. For more photos of Tamales Moreno, check out our slide show.

The green chile is the color and consistency of split pea soup, but it has a tangy flavor and a slow burn that the kitchen will happily make hot enough to melt your intestines.
