Picnic season begins at Steuben's, Trillium celebrates Scandinavia and more

Steuben's, 523 East 17th Avenue, has started its third annual Picnics on the Patio series. The monthly, family-style parties take place on the patio through September, and each meal is inspired by a different regional cuisine. The picnic tonight, June 10, begins at 6 p.m. and will feature a Tex-Mex menu. Seats are $60 per person, and include five courses paired with drinks (wine, beer, cocktails). Frasca Food and Wine, 1738 Pearl Street in Boulder, is featuring the wines of Robert Sinskey Vineyards for its Monday night wine dinner. There will be four courses for $50 and wine pairings available for an additional $45; call 303-442-6966 to reserve a seat.

Tuesday, June 11:

Civic Center Eats continues at Civic Center Park. The food-truck fest lands at the park at lunchtime from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through September 26. Visit the website for the full schedule of both trucks and entertainment.

Wednesday, June 12:

Trillium, 2134 Larimer Street, has launched a monthly, Scandinavian-themed series. Tonight's four-course, paired dinner -- which starts at 6 p.m. -- is inspired by the cuisine of Finland. Admission is $65, but space is limited; call 303.379.9759 to check availability.

The fifth annual Hot Rocks Griller Challenge heats up this evening at Elway's Cherry Creek, 2500 East First Avenue. The party, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m., pits fifteen of Denver's top chefs against each other in a friendly competition benefiting the Denver Health Foundation. Tickets to the event are $100 (VIP access is $250); visit the website for more information.

Zengo, 1610 Little Raven Street, is hosting a wine tasting from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. Sommelier Brett Zimmerman will lead a workshop that includes samples from over sixty wines. Call the restaurant at 720-904-0965 for more information.

EDGE Restaurant, 1111 14th Street, is hosting a grilling cooking class every Thursday through September. Tonight's class, which starts at 6:30 p.m., will feature golden trout with whole grain mustard, cress and cashew vinaigrette. Friday, June 14:

Armida's Mexican Restaurant, 840 Lincoln Street, will continue to celebrate its nineteenth anniversary through tomorrow. Winner of Best Karaoke in the Best of Denver 2013, Armida's will be offering food and drink specials all day; call 303-837-8921 for more information.

Saturday, June 15:

The brand-new Brick House Tavern + Tap, 19320 Cottonwood Drive in Parker, will offer daily menu specials and host local bands on the patio Saturdays from 9 p.m. to midnight and Sundays from 6 to 10 p.m.; call 303-840-2285 to learn more.
