Left Hand Brewing in Longmont is out early with its copper-colored Oktoberfest Märzen Lager. The 6.6 percent ABV German-style beer took two months two brew (so drink it slowly), something that was made easier by Left Hand's recent addition of several 480-barrel fermenters. The space crunch meant that Oktoberfest was only available in Colorado last year. This year, the slightly sweet, biscuity beer will be available in all 25 states where Left Hand is distributed.

Deconstruction is a barrel-aged Golden Ale most that was last brewed in 2010. Based on Jacque Derrida's theory of Deconstruction ("whereby developing a process of brewing that first deconstructs the desired complexities in the finished product thereby revealing how to achieve these characteristics through brewing process," Odell says), the beer was created by blending the final recipe with smaller pilot batches of the brew aged in oak barrels and fermented with wild yeasts.
