Reader: Cherry Creek Has Been the Rodeo Drive of Denver for Years
A last lunch at Andre's Confiserie Suisse.
Cherry Creek is changing and changing fast as it loses many of its longtime mainstays and pricy chains move into the area; reader Greg likens the new look to Rodeo Drive. At the end of the year, the Wizard's Chest — which just opened a store at 451 Broadway — will close up shop at 230 Fillmore. And that's when you can also bid adieu to Andre's Confiserie Suisse, which is closing on December 31 — after 49 years in Cherry Creek; its building will reportedly be razed. Bree Davies went for one last lunch at Andre's, one of her favorite spots, but some readers didn't share her affection for the place. Says Concetta:
Yeah, I want to eat where the menu looks like an elementary school lunch schedule. I guess you were also heartbroken when Marie Callender's closed?
It has been working for 49 years. I dare you to try it, Concetta.
Then there's this from Alex:
I have literally never, ever heard anyone say that they've eaten at Andre's. For years I thought it was just a ghost sign from a long-dead fern bar.
I haven't visited Andre's in almost fifteen years or so, but it was a good place. Apparently Greg hasn't noticed that Cherry Creek North has been the Rodeo Drive of Denver for years.
Did you frequent Andre's? Will you go for one last meal there? Where else do you like to eat in Cherry Creek? And what do you think of the changes there?
