Reader: Denver Needs More $6 Miniature Duck Confit Tacos
The Pig & the Sprout: a new restaurant in a new part of town.
The neighborhood north of Prospect is changing, and changing fast, with new residents moving in every day and restaurants like Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and The Pig & the Sprout serving those residents. On July 15, some of the neighbors and local businesses gathered to celebrate a new name for the area: Union Station North. Says Jeremy:
I'm so excited. I hope they'll have some nice restaurants that have $6 miniature duck confit tacos because I was just thinking how we need more of that in Denver
We lived there from 1994-2000 in the first condo/loft complex/island in that area — Silver Square — and it truly was the urban frontier. It was known as LoDo. It was indeed that with nearby project housing and very low rent districts in the hood. Silver Square was the home of starving artists and other interesting folks, really a community that I was proud to be part of it. Times change, and that's fine — it's such a double-edged sword. Everyone wants their value to increase, just hates it once the trendy douchebag crowd sets up camp!
And then there's this from Francis:
How about LOORP? If you didn't know, that's an acronym for Land of Outrageous Rental Prices. Oh, I guess that could be all of Denver, then!
What do you call this part of town? What do you think of changes there?
