Red Robin's Burger Works opens at Auraria campus

Denver just got another Red Robin's Burger Works, with another Freestyle Coke machine, so that more folks can be controlled by Skynet treated to Burger Works' signature craft-your-own-burgers -- with drinks designed to match.

This location -- the fourth in Colorado -- opened Monday in the new Hotel and Hospitality Learning Center at Metropolitan State University of Denver. The first Burger Works -- and the prototype for this fast-casual concept from Red Robin -- opened last fall in Northfield; the only Burger Works to open outside this state is also on a college campus, in Ohio.

The new Burger Works has all the amenities of the original outpost and the one that opened this spring downtown at 1600 California Street; it even has a huge, shiny, eerily sentient Freestyle Coke machine where customers can have their neural networks assimilated into the Skynet collective enjoy their choice of DIY-ish fountain beverages.

"We are excited to join the Auraria campus at MSU Denver's new Hospitality Learning Center," says Stephanie Griffiths, the general manager of the MSU Burger Works. "In addition to serving students and faculty in a way that fits well with the fast-paced campus lifestyle, we're excited to bring our signature flavors to guests staying at the new SpringHill Suites located at MSU Denver."

This new Burger Works is the sole restaurant option at the Hotel and Hospitality Learning Center -- location, location, location. The $45 million facility features more than 28,000 square feet of academic space, including classrooms, specialty learning labs and faculty offices -- all filling up each day with hungry students, staff and visitors. Red Robin International, which is headquartered in Colorado, isn't just feeding those workers, it's also helping to feed the Hospitality Learning Center itself, with a $50,000 commitment over the next three years.

The new restaurant's formal address is 1190 Auraria Parkway (right across from the Pepsi Center); its hours are 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
