Swanky's, 1938 Blake Street: Swanky's is a bar with Cajun food and flair that claims to be "Denver's home for Green Bay Packers Football." It might seem like a strange combination, but if you want to gather downtown with fellow cheese heads, this is your best bet.
Roo Bar, 3480 Park Avenue West: Roo Bar has nine types of wings, and they're all half-off on Super Bowl Sunday. This could be the perfect time to try the bar's "Crack" sauce or the Wisconsin Maple, if you want to show your Packers support in every way possible. Wash the wings down with $5 PBR pitchers or $8 Miller Lite and Coors Light pitchers.
Rocky Flats Lounge, 11229 Highway 93: This rustic and rusty spot just outside of Boulder offers such Wisconsin staples as brats, burgers, cheese curds and fish fries on Friday. Come Sunday, it will be grilling snacks outdoors and serving up plenty of Midwestern camaraderie in a unique Western setting.
For Steelers Fans:
The Rusty Bucket, 3355 South Wadsworth Boulevard: Denver's pre-eminent Steelers bar not only offers Pittsburgh food and drink staples -- Iron City beer and pierogies and Primantis-style sandwiches -- but it leads Steelers fight songs throughout the game. Nothing says hard-nosed, cold-weather, physical football like coordinated singing.
Jackson's, 1520 20th Street: This expansive watering hole is a good bet for any sporting event and, for whatever reason, it's become an unofficial Steelers bar. Drink specials and large televisions abound, and if the game goes the Steelers' way, Jackson's is a great jumping-off spot for a night of celebration.
For Any Football Fans:
Highland Tap and Burger, 2223 West 32nd Avenue: You could spend the whole day at this spot. Brunch will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., along with bottomless mimosas and a Bloody Mary bar. Pre-game tailgating from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. will be on the covered and heated patio, complete with a grill and draft beer. During the game, you can enjoy $3 Highland Tap House Ale and Coors. And after the game, you can call a cab or stumble home.
Wyman's No. 5, 2033 East 13th Avenue: This Bears bar could be the perfect spot to root against the Packers. It's also a great place to get deep-dish, Chicago-style pizza, half-off draft beers and well drinks, and avoid the chaos of downtown.
Three Dogs Tavern, 3390 West 32nd Avenue: Three Dogs falls somewhere between a quiet neighborhood spot and a large, loud sports. With vintage charm and a a good menu, this is a relatively low-key, neighborly spot to enjoy the game.
Sobo 151, 151 South Broadway: It would be too easy to head to the nearest Dave & Busters; why not try a Czech bar known as a good place to watch an Avalanche game? Sobo has plenty of televisions, and rather than consuming burgers and cheap light beer during the game, you can enjoy schnitzel or roast duck, and chase it down with Krusovice or Czechvar beer.
Elway's Downtown, 1881 Curtis Street: How could a Denver football list not include some mention of Elway? But this recommendation has little to do with the new Broncos vice president and a lot to do with chef Robert Bogart's game-day menu, which will include green chile nachos, a three-wing flight, burger sliders and Guinness floats. There will also be $3 draft beers, $5 select wines and $7 select martinis. Remember to wear your team's gear, since the best-dressed fans will win prizes.
