When Brett Zimmerman and his team at the Boulder Wine Merchant are throwing an event, you'd be wise to rearrange your schedule and get there. The master sommelier offers some unique opportunities to taste rare wines in fun contexts, thereby expanding the horizons of his buyers and giving wine fans new ways to enjoy their juice.
And tonight's event is no exception.
The Boulder Wine Merchant has partnered with Zoe Ma Ma, the shoebox-sized and damn good Chinese restaurant just off of the West End of Pearl Street, to throw a tasting event. The restaurant will cook up a number of specialties and bring them to the wine shop, where Zimmerman will pour German and Austrian Riesling pairings to match. The goal, he notes, is to show how "transcendent" Riesling can be when paired to the right food -- like spicy Asian fare.
Even better? The event is free.
