On Sunday, August 14, Westword will host Tacolandia, a celebration of the city's street tacos in all their tortilla-wrapped glory. Join us at Sports Authority Field to enjoy unlimited samples from many of Denver's top taquerias, cantinas, Mexican restaurants and food trucks, including Boulder's Centro Mexican Kitchen.
While you're at home deciding what to wear and doing some taco-eating warm-up exercises, Centro's chef, Dakota Coburn, will be smoking enough pork to feed hundreds of hungry taco hounds. Each taco will also get a spoonful of guacamole and a load of oven-roasted pico de gallo, adding the colors of the Mexican flag to each meaty bite.
Centro, opened by restaurateur Dave Query on Boulder's Pearl Street Mall, has been serving up great Mexican eats since 2007. Query's Big Red F restaurant group also includes all of the Jax Fish House locations, Zolo Grill, the Post Brewing Co., Goodbird Kitchen, the West End Tavern and Lola Coastal Mexican, which will also be joining our taco extravaganza.
If you want that smoked-pork taco, grab Tacolandia tickets for $40 for general admission, which gets you unlimited food samples and entertainment from 4 to 7 p.m.; a $75 VIP ticket includes early entry into the event at 3 p.m., plus two Estrella Jalisco beers and plenty of surprises...including food from chef Jamey Fader of Lola.
Get your tickets now at westwordtacolandia.com. (If you hurry, you still may be able to snag a fiesta four-pack: four GA tickets for just $100.)
