Denver restaurants are rallying to aid Japan; here are some of the local benefits:

Ototo Food and Wine (www.facebook.com/ototoden), Izakaya Den (www.izakayaden.net) and Sushi Den (www.facebook.com/sushiden) will host fundraisers through Saturday, March 19. A portion of dinner proceeds from each of these sibling restaurants on South Pearl Street will be donated to relief efforts, and there will also be donation boxes where guests can contribute directly.

Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar, 8437 Park Meadows Center Drive in Littleton, is serving up $12 Rescue Rolls; all proceeds from the sale of the rolls through March 31 will benefit the Red Cross. You can also pick up a copy of the book Abundance: Finding the American Dream in a Japanese Kitchen at Mikuni, and all proceeds from those sales will benefit earthquake relief efforts.

Japon (www.japonsushi.com) will be collecting donations of clothing, toiletry items, food and more through April 16 for the survivors of the earthquake/tsunami, and the restaurant itself will donate a percentage of sales.

On Saturday, March 19, Las Hamburguesas, 1319 West Alameda Avenue (inside Valverde Country Club), will donate 25 percent of all sales between 5 and 11 p.m. to the Red Cross.

From Sunday, March 20 through Saturday, March 26, 50 percent of all sake sales at the four Hapa Sushi locations -- 2780 East Second Avenue, 5380 Greenwood Plaza Boulevard in Englewood, 1220 Pennsylvania Avenue in Boulder, and 1117 Pearl Street in Boulder -- will benefit Save the Children Japan.

And on Tuesday, March 29, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Bernie's Hot Dog Company, 1601 Mayberry Drive in Highlands Ranch, will donate 50 percent of its sales to American Red Cross efforts in Japan.
