Announcement: We have a winner of our First Bite Boulder contest. Congrats to Chris, who guessed 38,818. The actual number is 40,265.

There's no shortage of upcoming food-centric events around the city, but autumn signals the arrival of one of our favorite restaurant celebrations: First Bite Boulder, a week-long eating frenzy that takes place between November 9-17 and pimps three-course fixed price menus at more than forty food temples, including The Kitchen, Oak at Fourteenth, Mateo, Bramble & Hare, the Med, Salt, Leaf and the new Beehive.

Reservations at the participating restaurants, all of which highlight menus for $26 per person, excluding tax and gratuity, are hard to come by, but we're giving away two seats to a First Bite Boulder restaurant to one Cafe Society commenter who can answer this question: How many total meals were served at last year's First Bite Boulder?

The person who comes the closest to the actual number without going over will win dinner for two at one of the following restaurants: Salt, Leaf, Mateo, Bramble & Hare, Shine, Japengo, the Med or the Greenbriar Inn.

Submit your guesses in the comments section below, and please include a name and a valid e-mail address (if you don't leave an e-mail address, you're SOL), so we can contact you if you win. We'll announce the winner on Thursday, November 8.
