Win FREE admission to the last Justice League of Street Food bash!
The Justice League of Street Food will sign off on Saturday.
"Standing in an empty parking lot four years ago, I never dreamed that we'd be so successful, or that the city would embrace the Justice League they way it did," reflects Delores Tronco, who, along with a entrepreneurial cartel of committed chefs, restaurateurs and street-food slingers, started the Justice League of Street Food in 2009, blazing the way for food trucks all over the city.
But on Saturday, the Justice League will host its last street-food shindig from 3 to 10 p.m. at 3459 Ringsby Court, in the parking lot of the TAXI development. "We want to go out on a high note, as opposed to just fading into irrelevance, or putting on events that we can no longer be proud of," explains Tronco, who promises that this bash will be the best yet -- and we're giving one cafe Society commenter (and a guest) one last chance to eat and drink for free.

Fourteen food trucks, including Hey PB & J, Pinche Tacos, Biker Jim's Gourmet Dogs, The Biscuit Bus, Denver Cupcake Truck, The Pie Truck, Quiero Arepas, Cap'n Crabby, Mythos Gourmet Greek, Big Country Bar B Que, Baba & Pops' Pierogis & Kielbasa, Aiko Pops, Peteybird Ice Cream Sandwiches and Boulder-based Babette's Bakery, which will be cooking wood-fried pizzas, are slated to be in attendance.
In addition, DJs Spencer Foreman and DJ K-Tron will be spinning live music throughout the night, and swimming is encouraged in the shipping container pool at TAXI, which will have its own satellite bar (cash only, but there's an ATM on site) pouring Avery beers, Moscow Mules and margaritas; a tasting table trumpeting high-end tequilas and bourbons is part of the festivities, too.
Proceeds from both bar and truck sales will benefit Excelsior Youth Center, a local nonprofit, as well as a Denver Cupcake Truck employee who was recently stricken with cancer. Proceeds from the Cupcake and Pie trucks will also assist with her mounting medical bills.
A playground for kids is also part of the mix, as is the opportunity to shop at the Brick-and-Mortar General Store, a traveling boutique shop housed in a vintage 1964 Aristocrat trailer that showcases -- and sells -- handcrafted home goods, jewelry, custom art and accessories created by local artists.
"It's been an incredible ride these last four years, and we're immensely grateful for the independent, out-of-the-box thinkers who have come to support the Justice League and all of the charities that we've been able to support in turn," says Tronco. "We say thank you, and hope that someone else will pick up the reins and bring another great series of food truck parties to life, but since this is the last Justice League party ever, we hope that we'll be able to go out with a bang," she adds.
Want to go? Here's what we want to know: How many kegs of beer has the Justice League of Street Food untapped since its first event in 2009?
The person who comes the closest to the actual answer without going over, will win. To enter, please submit your best guess, your name and a valid e-mail address (if you're already registered with MyVoiceNation, then we have your e-mail; if you're not, then we don't, and without an e-mail address, you can't win) in the comments section below.
We'll announce the winner on Friday before 5 p.m. Oh, and by the way, dogs are welcome and biking to the bash is encouraged.
