This week's cover story looks into the tumultuous life and strange death of Kimmyan Franklin. A former bartender at the Lion's Lair and bright light of Denver's music scene, Franklin was widely mourned when she passed away last summer at the age of 39. What follows is a photographic tribute to the mischievous, thoughtful and dynamic personality she was. Ranging from a childhood photo of Kimmyan with her mother to a modeling session with photographer Gerald Bivens to her work behind the bar to a snapshot of Kimmyan hanging out with friends in Yuma County shortly before her death, these images provide at least a glimpse of a woman who kept her secrets close and kept smiling.
