Buy a Piece of History: Lakewood's Taylor Estate Hosted Royalty, Politicians and Celebrities

A piece of Colorado history will change hands on July 13, when DeCaro Auctions International auctions off the 64-acre, 26-room Taylor estate at 6900 West Lakeridge Road in Lakewood. The European manor-style home was designed in 1932 by architect Burnham Hoyt and purchased in 1951 by Vernon Taylor and Ann Bonfoey Taylor, a member of the 1940 U.S. Olympic ski team who also designed ski apparel. The Taylors entertained celebrities, socialites and even royalty, including Prince Phillip and Princess Anne; Hillary Clinton hosted a dinner for the wives of the G8 summit here in 1997. The property is valued at $27.7 million and will go to the highest bidder.
