10 Things to Do for $10 in Denver This Weekend (7 Free!), November 7-9

Tom Waits thought November, "only believes in a pile of dead leaves and a moon that's the color of bone." Pretty grim thought, Tom, because around Denver, we're partying this November weekend. There's going to be an avalanche of activities going on due to Denver Arts Week. Laser light shows for the veterans, beer parties and living to get radical will be some of the many things you can partake in this weekend. Days of My Youth Screening at American Mountaineering Center (Friday, $10) A couple weeks ago, these guys were watching a classic ski movie. Tonight, check out the hot doggers of a new generation; needless to say, they're fucking nuts. See some of the best in the world rip the pow and jib the rails in this ski flick.

Denver Arts Week at Denver Metro Area (Friday-Sunday, free-$10) There is so much to see and do for the next nine days during Denver Arts Week that it could have its own 10 for $10 column, so you might just have to do some exploring. Spend First Friday at the galleries of various art districts. Saturday will offer free shuttle service with free admission to over twenty museums. Check this out, for more options.

The History and Evolution of Hate Crime Laws at Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library (Saturday, free) If you've been paying attention, you may have noticed that the relationship between the public and the cops hasn't been so great lately. Retired sergeant Ezekiel Rankin would like to bridge that gap and discuss why this has developed over the years. He's a nationally recognized expert in the field of hate crimes and racial profiling, so this discussion is not to be missed.

Farm to Table Culinary Arts Celebration andcJello Mold Competition at 40 West Galleries and Studios (Saturday, free-$5) Wobble your way over to 40 West gallery today for a food inspired art show. The show is free to attend and only $5 to enter the Jello-mold contest. Molds will be judged on four categories including Most Artistic, Best Tasting, Most Colfax Cool and of course one awarded for audience favorite. See the video above for some inspiring creations.

Duck Duck Dupe at Buntport Theater (Saturday, $6-$8) Participate in some theater involving two truths and a lie. This week, the plays are inspired by Saved be the Bell, Mork and Mindy and Three's Company to create a completely made-up sitcom. By dressing up as a duck, or simply acting like a duck, take a dollar off the admission cost. Now there's a quack of a deal. Denver Veterans Day Festival at Civic Center Park (Saturday, free) Veterans Day might be on Tuesday, but Saturday we party and give thanks. Head to Civic Center Park today for tons of activities and enjoy the beer garden. There will be plenty of food, live music and, once the sun goes down, a laser light show. The day also includes a 5/10K run, remembrance ceremony and parade. Upslope 6th Anniversary Party at Upslope Brewing Company (Saturday, free) Never let a weekend go by where you don't celebrate beer. This anniversary party is a great excuse to enjoy a brew. Fans of Upslope will be stoked to guzzle some old favorites as well as a brand new 6th Anniversary Ale. The live music and food trucks are sure to enhance the ambiance.

Bike Smut 8: Come Again at Velowood Cyclery (Saturday, $8 donation) Let the bike porn flow over you tonight at this touring film festival for all you two wheeled lovers out there. Promoting sex positivity and eco-friendly transportation, they're really putting the fun between your legs. Make some bike tube floggs and get ready to groove to a live DJ following the performance located in the same complex as the Sie FilmCenter and Tattered Cover.

Bluegrass Brunch at Station 26 Brewing (Sunday, free) Brunch is the continuation of the night before, so keep it going on Sunday at this brewery that used to be a fire station. Enjoy fluffly doughnuts fromGlazed & Confuzed, ribs from Rolling Smoke BBQ and live music from Thunder & Rain, to curb the hangover. Boulder Comedy Show at Bohemian Biergarten (Sunday, free) We'd hate for you to have to go back to work without having one last laugh.
