This is your last chance before Labor Day weekend to enjoy the unofficial end of summer -- and to keep those tans alive as long as possible. Most of the events going on this weekend are free, so there's no excuse not to shoot some hoops, tell a secret or groove to some bluegrass music. The Westword calendar has a complete listing of events around town, and use the comments section below to spread the word on events we missed.

Museum Quality Drinking at Museum of Contemporary Art (Friday, $5) This is your last chance to catch this summer rooftop party. The views, the art and live music from Bluebook & Somerset Catalog are a heck of a deal.

Denver Modernism Show at National Western Complex (Friday-Sunday, $8) The fashion, furniture and automobiles of the 1950's and '60's were flashy, unique and never really went out of style. Celebrate all things mod this weekend, from the Miss Modernism Pageant to the Bandstand Dance-Off.

Old Fashioned Corn Roast Festival at Downtown Loveland (Friday-Saturday, free) The city of Loveland has been dedicating an entire weekend to corn for over a century. The tradition continues this weekend with shucking and eating contests, plus all the corn you can eat at only $2 an ear. Don't forget about the live music and parade to round out this corn-ucopia of a weekend.

ARTCRANK at Ink Lounge (Saturday, free) Traveling from city to city across the country, ARTCRANK brings together at least thirty artists from each host city to make bike-centric posters representing what bike culture means to them. While the amazing prints might be a little over $10, there will be plenty of swag to make it all worth while. Don't miss this opportunity to experience this pedaling art show.

Boulder Bluegrass Music Festival at Millenium Harvest House Pavillion (Saturday, free) It would be cool to name a band Bluegrass Festival, so then a bunch of people would show up to your gigs. This event is a real bluegrass festival though, with plenty of bands -- with real names -- and other activities to enjoy on your Saturday.

VOC30 at Confluence Park (Saturday, free) Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado does a lot of hard work all over the state maintaining trails and cleaning up after forrest fires. Today they're throwing a party with good beer, food and activities for the kids. Maybe you could join them for a weekend of keeping Colorado beautiful. RSVP here.

Secret Sessions at Vertigo (Saturday, free) We all have secrets, big and small. So, if you've got something juicy to get off your chest, come sip tea with artists Petra Sertic and Alvin P. Gregorio and tell them what's in the vault. The keeper of the most motivating secret will be invited to develop a project for Launch Pad 003 next month. 16th Street Food Festival at 16th Street Mall (Saturday-Sunday, free) Next weekend will be filled with backyard BBQs featuring burgers and hot dogs. This weekend, get weird and mix it up by trying everything from fish taco's to bahn mi. United Street Festival at Roof Top Courts (Sunday, free) The rooftop courts on top of the downtown Chase Bank are a bit of a hidden gem. If you've never seen this hidden park, today is your day. This event is a three-on-three basketball tournament, sneaker swap and live music from DJ Bedz of Denver Nuggets fame. USA Pro Cycling Challenge at Civic Center Park (Sunday, free) Cheer on the riders for the final stage of America's race that ends under the shadow of our Capitol Building. Make sure to check out the list of road closures before you go, so you can get there safe and timely.
