3 things to do for free in Denver this week, May 19-22

Sometimes the best things in life really are free. This week in Denver, you can celebrate the preservation of wilderness in the United States, participate in a GLBTQ mix-tape project or kick back with some cartoons and comedy -- without having to pay a dime. See the online Westword calendar for more fun events, and if you know of other free events, share them in the comments section below.

GLBTQ Intergenerational Mixtape at the McNichols Building (Wednesday) Connect to GLBTQ history and community in Denver through the power of music tonight. Everyone is invited to bring a song that defines their generation to help fuel a discussion with panelists who'll include long-time activists, high school students and more. Colorado Wilderness 50 Tour at the American Mountaineering Center (Wednesday) In 1964, the Wilderness Act created the legal definition of wilderness as "an area where the earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man, where man himself is a visitor who does not remain" -- and protected many square miles of that untrammeled land. Celebrate that momentous legislation tonight with a happy hour, slide show and talk by outdoor photographer John Fielder.

Cartoons & Comedy at the Voodoo Comedy Playhouse (Thursday)

It's time again for the nostalgic comedy show

Cartoons & Comedy

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

's Byron F. Graham, Aaron Urist and a secret guest provide the commentary.
