Afternoon Delight

What does Denver Cruisers guru Brad Evans think will happen at the community bike riders’ inaugural Sunday Funday Ride? He doesn’t have a clue. “There could be ten people or there could be a thousand,” he notes, but it really doesn’t matter, as long as a good time is had by all.

Beginning today at 1:30 p.m. at Great Divide Brewing, 2201 Arapahoe Street, and the Lobby, across the street at 2191 Arapahoe, this ride is costume-free, at least for the moment, and, Evans predicts, more family-friendly than the Cruisers’ Wednesday-night fetes on wheels; at least ten of the rides, which continue weekly through Labor Day, will also end up at the City Park Jazz Festival, where riders can disperse for a little music al fresco. Sundays, 1:30 p.m. Starts: May 30. Continues through Sept. 25, 2010

KEEP WESTWORD FREE... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
Susan Froyd started writing for Westword as the "Thrills" editor in 1992 and never quite left the fold. These days she still freelances for the paper in addition to walking her dogs, enjoying cheap ethnic food and reading voraciously. Sometimes she writes poetry.
