"It's just really fascinating how woven into the tapestry of time the Beatles were, and it's really illuminating just to break it down and see where those connections are made," says Keith Garcia, the FilmCenter's programming director. To that end, Freiman basically tackles the two albums track by track -- right down to such details as Paul McCartney's foot-tapping in "Blackbird" -- to see what makes them tick, then puts that information in the context of the Beatles' arc as a band and the era the act occupied. "The point is definitely not general trivia," Garcia observes. "It's the story behind the trivia."
Freiman delivers Deconstructing Sgt. Pepper at 7 p.m. tonight at the Denver FilmCenter, 2510 East Colfax Avenue, and Looking Through a Glass Onion tomorrow night at the same time, same place. Tickets for both screenings are $20 ($15 for members). For reservations or more information, visit www.denverfilmcenter.org or call 720-381-0813.
