Even people born decades after the Beatles first banded together know that Eric Clapton played lead guitar on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," as well as many other Fab Four facts. Those truly obsessed fans won't want to miss composer and engineer Scott Freiman, arguably the world's foremost expert on Beatles geekery, who'll be at the Denver FilmCenter tonight and tomorrow for Deconstructing Sgt. Pepper and Looking Through a Glass Onion: Deconstructing the White Album, a pair of video lectures that deconstruct those albums in minute detail with an eye toward the bigger picture.

"It's just really fascinating how woven into the tapestry of time the Beatles were, and it's really illuminating just to break it down and see where those connections are made," says Keith Garcia, the FilmCenter's programming director. To that end, Freiman basically tackles the two albums track by track -- right down to such details as Paul McCartney's foot-tapping in "Blackbird" -- to see what makes them tick, then puts that information in the context of the Beatles' arc as a band and the era the act occupied. "The point is definitely not general trivia," Garcia observes. "It's the story behind the trivia."

Freiman delivers Deconstructing Sgt. Pepper at 7 p.m. tonight at the Denver FilmCenter, 2510 East Colfax Avenue, and Looking Through a Glass Onion tomorrow night at the same time, same place.
